Excellent Mentoring towards Employability

2. Objectives of the practice:

  • To mentor the students on life skills so that they can excel in their academics.
  • To mentor the students to build a career for themselves, as per their potential, they gain after training.
  • To mentor the students towards preparing them for Campus Recruitments

3. The context:

  • Mentoring is a powerful tool that can greatly enhance an individual's performance and development in student personal and professional lives.
  • By providing guidance, support, and mentors play a crucial role in helping individual students to reach their full potential.
  • This knowledge transfer allows students to acquire new skills, learn best practices, and gain valuable subject-specific knowledge.
  • The personalized approach enables students to provide targeted feedback, advice, and encouragement, which can significantly enhance performance.

Programme Details:

  • Class Advisor - provides support, offer exposure and visions within the Institute.
  • Act as Counselor - to take on challenges, set higher goals, and push themselves beyond their comfort zones.
  • Subject faculty mentor – the subject faculty act as mentor during the university examinations. They motivate the students by providing guidance, support, knowledge and the role in helping individual students to reach their full potential.
  • Target – it is classified as role 1, role 2 and role 3. In role 1 make the students to get secure good marks in university examinations. In role 2 giving good counseling in all bases of the students. In role 3 targeting on the arrear student and make to clear, to provide job opportunity.
  • Training students for Employability - Nowadays, most companies or organizations not only consider a student’s overall academic performance but also consider the holistic development of students when they recruit for various jobs.

4. The practice:

  • The institution provides a well-structured skill development programs to all the students.
  • The institution has included Communicative English, as part of the curriculum, in semester I and II, to improve the communication skills of the students. As a part of this, every week, each class of the students is provided “The Hindu” Newspaper. It is given in rotation basis, helps to improve the communication and reading skills and make to understand the grammar.
  • The mentor role including by Class Advisor, as Counselor, Focusing by Individual Subject faculty and Target achievement.
  • The class advisor, of our institute typically more experienced and knowledgeable in a particular field, can share their expertise and insights with their mentees.
  • They monitor the students to produce good effort, out come the talents in different field and guide to perform as smart student.
  • As mentor of counseling, we find the difficulties of their families, financial support and in college guidance.
  • The focusing mentor, enhance self-confidence and motivation translate into improved performance as smart student. The individual subject faculty also guide them in “Study Hour” before the university examination. This makes them to clear their doubts and solve the difficulties faced in subjects.
  • Target the most guidance needed student and enhance them to achieve good results in university examinations and provide best career, although in Government jobs opportunities.

5. Evidence of success:

  • Through the mentoring practice, more students are passed in the university examinations and placed in good jobs.
  • Through best mentoring of our institution, we obtained maximum numbers of placements.

6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required:

  • Availability of time for faculty and students.
  • Resources for implementation.

7. Notes:

  • In spite of very tight time schedule for faculty and students, we have encouraged our faculty members to give importance for mentoring process. The faculty members have extended full co-operation for the implementation of mentoring process by working beyond college hours.
  • The Institution extended full support for mentoring system by providing the necessary resources to the faculty and student.

“Sustainable Horizons - Green Campus Initiative”

2. Objective of the Practice

  • Promoting eco-friendly habits by encouraging students to adopt sustainable practices including
  • The tree plantation helps to maintain clear eco friendly environment, reduces pollution and improves the green ambience.
  • Reducing plastic usage
  • Conserving water and energy
  • Implementing Rain water harvesting
  • Raising awareness through
  • Organizing events and workshops
  • Providing education about environmental issues and solutions

3. The Context:

    • By planting trees we aim to contribute to the mitigation of climate change.
    • Optimum use of natural resources for sustainable future.
    • The institute partially depends on solar power generation, installed on the rooftop of the building, to satisfy its energy needs.
    • Rainwater harvesting conserves ground and surface water for optimal use by humanity.

    4. The Practice:

    • Plantations in large numbers within the campus and the efficient maintenance through gardeners.
    • Water conservation facilities are deployed across the campus to harvest rain water and monitor water level in tanks.
    • Solar panel have been also installed in the campus which account for conserving energy.

    5. Evidence of Success:

    • Our Eco Club students successfully conducted a tree plantation program aimed at combating various environmental issues such as deforestation, soil erosion, desertification, and global warming.
    • Student volunteers from AMCET actively participated in a competition aimed at drastically reducing single-use plastic, ensuring it is not dumped underground with waste.
    • Through the adoption of conservation methods, students are equipped with the knowledge of effectively using electric energy.

    6. Problems Encountered and resources required:

    • Continuous efforts are required to create awareness and sustain go green.
    • Significant investment is necessary to establish an alternative energy source.

    7. Notes:

    • We conducted many awareness program for the students in maintaining a green campus, avoiding plastics in the campus, conservation of water and in increasing the green cover within the campus as well as in neighbourhood areas.
    • Institution supports by providing tree sampling to the eco club. We have increased the green coverage for the campus during last 10 years.
