Civil CADD Laboratory

Computer Aided Design laboratory is an important practical subject. This lab deals with the study of various distinctive features and tools used in AutoCAD and uses of this software in civil engineering is covered extensively. The CADD lab is equipped with AUTO CADD software and is extensively used for design and drawing. The knowledge gained in the lab eventually equips the students to provide quality service once employed in the industry.

Construction Materials Laboratory

 

  • Investigate the properties and behavior of materials and assemblies.
  • Become familiar with ASTM specifications and testing procedures and with construction field monitoring and testing practices.
  • Develop skills for analyzing experimental data and working in teams.
  • Design and conduct a custom laboratory experiment, analyze and interpret the data, and make a presentation on the results of the testing.
  • Research and Site reference standards.

Surveying Laboratory

This lab serves the needs of the civil engineering programs in basic plane surveying, and supports the advanced surveying courses as well. The survey lab is used for surveying experience and is equipped with all latest instrumentation viz levels, total station, theodolite sets for conducting ground surveying works.

Acquiring practical knowledge on handling basic survey instruments including leveling and development of contour map of given area.

Strength Of Materials Laboratory

This laboratory, containing materials testing machines, is used to introduce students to material properties through actual testing of specimens. The department uses this lab in support of several courses where this type of experimentation is used like testing of the basic building materials, assessing its properties and analyzing whether it confirms to the standards given by BIS codes.

Hydraulic Engineering Laboratory

A basic knowledge of fluid mechanics is essential for all the civil engineers as they frequently come across a variety of problems involving flow of fluids, force of fluid on structural surface etc….. This laboratory is used for experimentation on the properties and behavior of fluids.

The hydraulic laboratory is fully equipped with all the facilities and experimental setup through which students are given a very good demonstration to understand various methods of measurement of flow rate, capacity & velocity of water in tank, closed pipes and open channels.

Soil Mechanics Laboratory

The soil lab provides academic and research services through performing all lab tests needed for analysis and study of soil characteristics and its properties. This lab consists of several equipment for testing the various parameters of soil like Unconfined Compression test, consolidation test, permeability test, compaction test, Triaxial compression test, compaction test, permeability test etc…

The environmental lab comprises of modern and technically advanced instrument needed for water and waste water analysis. The lab has also many in-site device and equipment to perform different type of measurement and to take grab and composite water, waste water samples.

Highway Engineering Laboratory

 

  • This lab provides facilities for various tests for cement and concrete which includes test for compressive strength, flexural strength, fineness and mix design of concrete etc…
  • This branch of civil engineering is involved with the multifarious activities related to highway engineering in particular and Transport Engineering in general. It is a well-equipped laboratory related to highway material testing, pavement evaluation and traffic engineering studies.
